You’ve just finished a military career and you’re not quite ready to hit the books full time. Here’s the good news  – with these top careers for vets, you don’t have to.

Not every high-paying cleared career requires a college degree. Hiring managers will often trade years of military experience for education, especially in the IT industry. Top paying jobs in IT include Java Developer, Software Engineer, or Mechanical Engineer. But while degrees aren’t required, IT certifications often are. Consider obtaining them before you begin applying for jobs.

Not an IT professional? No problem. Careers in intelligence or program management also offer salaries in the six-figures, especially in the Washington, D.C. region. Program Managers will find the Program Management Professional – PMP – certification helpful. Intelligence analysts will want to demonstrate their ability with analytical programs in their resume – be as detailed as possible when listing your experience – but don’t reveal classified information.

A college degree can be a great advantage – but so is your military experience. Demonstrate your hands-on skills and you just may land a six figure salary – no degree required.
