Veterans & Children Foundation

Since its creation in 1925, The American Legion Veterans & Children Foundation has provided over $30 million in assistance for disabled veterans, military families and younger individuals who lost their parents during military service to our nation. Income from the foundation is used to fund Veterans Affairs & Rehabilitation programs and Temporary Financial Assistance, which delivers funds to minor children of active duty or American Legion members.

100 Miles for Hope is The American Legion’s second annual campaign that encourages members and others to be active while directing all proceeds to the Veterans & Children Foundation.

The first rendition of 100 Miles for Hope surpassed The American Legion team’s expectations, getting members of the military community active amid a pandemic, in such a time where the mental health of members could have been at stake. They raised funds and awareness for the foundation, delivering approximately $150,000 in 2020. Their new and improved goal for this year’s campaign is to at least double that. How can you help the organization get to $300,000 for 2021?

There are a few ways that you can help. The American Legion is looking for folks to join in and support the cause directly, but in order to allow participants to track activities and motivate others to fundraise, they are utilizing an app called Kilter. Don’t have a smart phone? No problem. You can also register through Emblem Sales, or browse through the collection of commemorative 100 Miles for Hope merchandise that will benefit the foundation.
