In today’s current labor market, reaching your recruiting goals is more challenging than it has ever been. And pushing candidates through the hiring process can be discouraging if your candidates are falling through the cracks at certain points.

A disengaged candidate pool means you must work hard at reaching passive talent, and according to Appcast, a talent acquisition data company, the candidate drop-off rate for people who click ‘Apply’ but don’t finish a job application is at 92%. As a passive workforce is faced with lengthy applications, these hiring hurdles companies are creating will be their own detriment. Drop off application rates can drive cost per application up and increase time to fill among many other issues. When applicants fall off the application process, your key recruiting metrics suffer. InFlight, a tech organization, found that candidates must go through 51 clicks on average to complete an application.

51 clicks for a job that you MIGHT be interested seems excessive.

Evan Lesser, Founder and President of ClearanceJobs is well aware of this issue, and how the number of workers who are happily employed is very high, and the number of candidates willing to put time into applications is very low. “The survey that we recently did of security cleared professionals showed that 92% of security cleared workers label themselves as employed. Now, they are passively interested in open opportunities, but that means that only 8% of security cleared workers said that they’re unemployed and actively looking.”

In addition to a candidate experience audit needing to be conducted within your own careers pages, ClearanceJobs is combatting the drop-off issue with our newest internal feature: Expressed Interest.

Job applications can be wonky, time consuming, and for the passive, cleared candidate, probably not worth the effort. The easy Expressed Interest feature will save candidates and recruiters time, but still allow hiring professionals to collect leads and get the conversation going.

EXPRESSED INTEREST

ClearanceJobs introduced a new way for candidates to raise their hand and show that they are interested in a position, but not ready to submit a resume or take the time to fill out a lengthy application. It’s like ‘swiping right while you’re dating before you marry up with a company’s application process.

The Expressed Interest Button is now seen on 100% of ClearanceJobs job postings, sandwiched in-between the Apply Now and Save Job buttons.

Helps the CLEARED CANDIDATE and Recruiters

With most candidates being passive, and not ready to formally apply to a position, they can express their interest without the legwork of filling out a long application for a job. This allows them to be put into a candidate pipeline with one easy click.

For recruiters, this new passive recruitment tool can be combined with all ClearanceJobs existing profile search capabilities, and recruiters can quickly view a list of candidates that Expressed Interest in their jobs through the Audience Selection in Candidate Search.

By easily identifying Expressed Interest candidates in your search results with the new animated “hand wave” icon next to the candidate’s name, you have created a pipeline of potentially qualified cleared candidates that you can start to network with before they are ready to formally apply.

This tool also integrates with Workflow, and lets recruiters set up custom actions and alerts, by sending a Broadcast Message, creating a new Workflow, Tagging and/or Connecting with all candidates – automatically.
