Watch the panel discussion between Mark Frownfelter, Assistant Director of the Special Security Directorate (SSD) at the NCSC, and Matthew Eanes, Director of the Performance Accountability Council’s Program Management Office, to hear about the Trusted Workforce 2.0 initiative, the most comprehensive reform in over five decades. Xcelerate Solutions’ Brett Mencin moderated the conversation.
Trusted Workforce 2.0 tackles critical challenges in the clearance process by shifting from outdated, periodic checks to continuous vetting. This change allows real-time monitoring of individuals in national security roles, enabling proactive risk management and quicker responses to potential issues. With more than 4 million personnel already enrolled, the system aims to add high-risk public trust positions by FY 2025.
Frownfelter and Eanes also discuss forward-thinking policies addressing today’s social landscape. For instance, Trusted Workforce 2.0 re-evaluates criteria around mental health and marijuana use, creating more inclusive opportunities in federal careers while still ensuring security standards.
Phase three of Trusted Workforce 2.0 focuses on new IT systems, such as the transparency of reciprocity information system, which will make it easier to transfer security clearances between agencies. This modernization simplifies processes, reduces costs, and ensures trusted people can work more efficiently.
Watch the video above and hear key insights on how Trusted Workforce 2.0 is setting the stage for a more agile, secure, and accessible workforce.
