November is National Veterans and Military Families Month. To close out this important celebration, the Security Clearance Careers Podcast hosts Mike Noll and Brett Moeller, both ClearanceJobs employees and military veterans, to talk about their service. They also share tips on how employers can improve their brand to reach veteran talent, how recruiters can reach the elusive secret squirrel, and how really anyone listening might be able to better position themselves throughout the cleared hiring process, from any vantage point.

Sr. VP of Regional Sales, Mike Noll, shares his story on supporting the Army National Guard as a Section Chief, MOS 13B, whose duty is to support infantry and tank units during combat. And while ClearanceJobs doesn’t have a tank of its own to be managed, Mike feels he learned more about military and leadership from the Army and its core values. 13B’s are critical in making sure the Army is successful on the battlefield, and some of those lessons he learned helped to prepare him for the work he does at ClearanceJobs in helping organizations secure cleared talent.

Brett has an extensive background in the hiring / recruitment area, specific to recruiting tech. With that experience, coupled with his time supporting Human Resources for the NY Army National Guard, he is able to highlight notable issues for recruiters in today’s market and how they can tackle them through employer branding to reach veteran talent. His experience supporting the armed forces focused on helping soldiers to develop their Army careers, but also provide personnel support and assistance to all divisions of the Army.

Obviously, clearances make our work niche and both Brett and Mike have experience obtaining one, lending their insight into how recruiters can better reach secret squirrels.

Tune in to this episode of the Security Clearance Careers podcast to hear from a few veterans supporting team ClearanceJobs, and listen to a few stories from supporting the military that will help recruiters AND candidates as they navigate the hiring process.
