A recent Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) expo attracted over 5,000 job seekers. Why? DISA is moving to Fort Meade and expects to have approximately 3,000 unfilled positions. Job seekers are hoping to land one of the many expected high-paying jobs with the DISA, which manages the military’s computer networks, telecommunication systems and Internet services

Under BRAC, DISA will be moving its headquarters next year from Arlington, Va., to Fort Meade, MD. Construction is nearing completion on the office space (1.1 million square feet) that will house DISA.  DISA officials said up to 30% of the jobs coming to Maryland are "unfilled." Some job seekers attending the expo were employed, but in search of a shorter commute.

By law the relocation of the agency’s headquarters to Fort Meade must be completed by September 2011. Officials said in total the BRAC plan should create as many as 60,000 jobs statewide.
