Anyone who’s served in the military knows that in addition to skill and wit, insurgents often trade on dumb luck in order to get the job done. It appears the military caught one such man last month when a Taliban commander in eastern Afghanistan turned himself in…hoping to get the $100 reward he’d seen in posters across his province.

The mid-level commander, Mohammad Ashan was allegedly enthusiastic about the prospect of collecting $100. Officials were initially dubious of his motives, but arrested him on the spot.

In the Wild Wild West of Afghanistan, it’s good to have one more insurgent out of the general populace – even if it’s one who was dumb enough to turn himself in for the reward on his head.
