Cyber security is one of the hottest industries today. While many companies are just breaking into the cyber arena, ManTech International Corporation has been providing cyber services and advanced computing solutions to intelligence community and department of defense clients for decades.

While the demand is high, not everyone has the skills to be a cyber professional. ClearanceJobs recently sat down with cyber professionals at ManTech to find out more about what skills a cyber professional needs.

ManTech emphasized the requirement for technical skills, including experience creating scripts in programming languages including Python, Java, and C++.

Technical skills alone won’t land you a job, however. ManTech focuses on three core values when it comes to building its team: passion, capacity and humility. The combination of those skillsets is critical to success.

Technical skills may be acquired through degree programs in computer science or engineering, but the passion for computing is what sets high-level cyber security professionals apart, and a security clearance is what will enable them to take their career to the next level.

While ManTech is willing to sponsor clearances, the sooner an employee is able to get cleared, or already having one before applying, is a definite advantage.
