Yesterday LinQuest Corporation, which offers services and solutions focused on the convergence of C4ISR, information, and cyber systems in support of the U.S. warfighter, announced that it was awarded a $14 million contract to extend the company’s support to United States Space Command (USSPACECOM) through April 21, 2021.
The company, which is headquartered in Los Angeles, CA with regional headquarters in Colorado Springs, CO and the Washington, D.C. area, will work to support the establishment and growth of the newest U.S. uniformed service.
LinQuest will provide non-personal services to accomplish the necessary functions to continue the development of the USSPACECOM as directed by the President of the United States. Work will be performed in Colorado at Peterson Air Force Base and Schriever Air Force Base.
“We provide technical support to the government customers to help in the day to day operations of the command,” explained Jeff Renehan, LinQuest VP and general manager of Operational Systems Support Solutions (OSSS).
While this is a new contract with the United States Space Command, LinQuest has been a partner for the past year, when it was awarded its first contract to help the command get up and ready.
“We’re the largest support contractor at Peterson Air Force Base, and we provide the support to everyone from the commander’s staff to the intelligence directorate to the operations directorate to programs directorate,” Renehan told ClearancesJobs. “The customer feedback had been very good, and we were able to staff up that contract very quickly. I’m happy to say we think our team hit it out of the park.”
Through that partnership LinQuest was very much on the leading edge of getting Space Command where it is today.
Non-Personal Services
Much of the work that the company does could be seen to be similar to a consultancy that exists in the private sector.
“That is a good way to explain it,” said Renehan. “We provide the technical support to the government customer to help in the day-to-day operations of the command. This includes advisory and assistance including draft briefings. We’re the technical support to the government staff.”
Where there is confusion still is in the role that Space Command is playing, and this should not be confused with the new United States Space Force. USSPACECOM is a unified command of the United States Department of Defense (DoD) that is responsible for military operations in outer space.
It was reestablished on August 29, 2019 with an emphasized focus on space as a warfighting domain.
“This is a joint command, as all the services are represented, but it is important to note that this re-establishment of the Space Command is still different and separate from the Space Force,” added Renehan. “Our contract is for that joint command. We’re well positioned to handle it as our team has 20 plus years of space experience, and most carry Top Secret clearance, so we’re involved in all aspects of the command. This is just a really exciting time for us.”
