In April, the Army’s classified and secure financial management system, General Fund Enterprise Business Systems – Sensitive Activities (GFEBS-SA), went “live” to about 100 initial users at the National Ground Intelligence Center.

In a recent news release, John Hubbard, technical manager with the Army’s General Funds Enterprise Business System Sensitive Activity (GFEBS-SA) system, said, “It’s the first ERP in the Impact Level 6, or IL6 cloud environment, and the first to implement cross-domain solutions for data protection, reporting and synchronization.”

Working with the Army, the Accenture Federal Services’ SAP Capability Group, comprised of technology and functional consultants, and our Cyber Strategy & Risk group migrated the GFEBS-SA system to a classified cloud environment. As a result, the Army can now seamlessly create additional computing capacity at a fraction of the time and perform rapid prototyping of new capabilities using both cloud-native and traditional approaches.

Accenture Federal Services worked to automate routine processes and reduce manual tasks, such as applying vendor patches to the system. These changes result in reduced operational downtime and contribute to highly successful external security control and penetration testing assessments. The Army could even see a significant cost savings as a result of the cloud migration.

As part of the migration to IL6, DoD required common services to support the Army’s cloud operation, including a Virtual Data Center Security Stack and Virtual Data Center Managed Services. We developed these capabilities to be secure, scalable, and extensible, which allows any future Army program with cloud computing needs to take advantage of this environment with minimal enablement required.

“We are excited to support the Army in bringing the classified version of its financial system to the IL6 cloud environment for the first time, and we look forward to continuing our partnership.” – Lieutenant General Susan Lawrence (Ret.)

“We are excited to support the Army in bringing the classified version of its financial system to the IL6 cloud environment for the first time, and we look forward to continuing our partnership,” said Lieutenant General Susan Lawrence (Ret.), Managing Director, Armed Forces Sector, Accenture Federal Services. “GFEBS-SA will help the Army improve audit readiness for its special operations, classified and intelligence communities. As the system integrator, we developed the system and helped the Army go live successfully.”

Our teams are honored to support the Army GFEBS-SA migration and we’re excited to continue pushing critical functionality forward as we gain valuable experience building and maintaining the SAP ERP suite of applications in the cloud.
