Northrop Grumman Corporation establishes a Hypersonics Capability Center (HCC) in Elkton, MD, supporting the DoD’s demand for long-range, rapid response weapons through advanced propulsion solutions for hypersonic missiles beyond Mach 5. The HCC is the first U.S. facility dedicated to large-scale manufacturing of air-breathing propulsion, including ramjet and scramjet, and will aid the U.S. Air Force’s Hypersonic Attack Cruise Missile development and future hypersonic systems work across DoD. With state-of-the-art production technology and digital engineering, the HCC aims to reduce costs and increase production capacity. Northrop Grumman’s investments also include a new missile integration facility in West Virginia and the expansion of solid rocket motor production in Utah, contributing to enhanced defense capabilities and job opportunities in the region.
