Google Public Sector shared that its Google Distributed Cloud Hosted (GDC Hosted) service has received authorizations to host some of the most sensitive missions for the Defense Department (DoD) and U.S. intelligence community agencies. With these authorizations, GDC Hosted can now handle Top Secret missions for DoD and both Secret and Top Secret missions for intelligence agencies. This move underscores Google Public Sector’s commitment to providing secure, cutting-edge technology to government agencies, empowering them with advanced cloud capabilities while ensuring stringent security requirements are met.

Google shared that GDC Hosted is an “air-gapped cloud solution built specifically for stringent security requirements, allowing U.S. intelligence and DoD agencies to host, control, and manage their infrastructure and services in a highly secure environment, while leveraging the power of advanced cloud capabilities like data analytics, machine learning (ML), and artificial intelligence (AI).”


Layoffs: Case New Holland Industrial

CNH Industrial’s decision to lay off over 200 workers at its Racine plant has stirred controversy, sparking responses from politicians like U.S. Sen. Tammy Baldwin and State Rep. Greta Neubauer. Baldwin urged CEO Scott Wine to reconsider, emphasizing the impact on the community and workers. Neubauer called the layoffs “unacceptable” given the company’s profits. CNH Industrial’s earnings report for 2023 showed record net income of $2.383 billion, but layoffs continue despite the profits, raising concerns among employees and lawmakers.

With chronic shortages in various career fields and an aging workforce, the Army is offering up to $1 million in hiring bonuses and on-the-spot job offers to attract Texans to its civilian workforce. The event, the first of its kind, aims to fill thousands of positions, including critical roles such as child care workers, behavioral health care workers, and cyber specialists. With over 2,000 open positions for civilians with backgrounds in social work or psychology alone, the Army is actively seeking to rejuvenate its workforce.
