While college graduates are breathing a sigh of relief at finally getting to the end, the next priority is finding a job. Sometimes, finding a company looking for a candidate who is fresh on education and light on experience can be challenging. But with an increase in virtual recruiting and talent programs, many employers are ramping up their college grad recruiting efforts. According to Handshake, a platform focused on college grads, 80% of current grads are searching for a prospective employer with a good reputation, but almost half of 2020’s pandemic grads are still job hunting. Companies like Microsoft, Pfizer, Amazon, Accenture, and General Electric are all key employers that are doing well at attracting young talent, based on brand resonance and virtual event engagement.

“The pandemic accelerated our plans to expand our virtual recruiting capabilities,” Julie Grzeda, executive director for early career talent at GE, said in a statement. “Companies of all sizes are working to provide more personalized interactions and proactive outreach to share our opportunities with students.”

Opportunity to Watch

Space Force is about to get their own National Guard, adding in another way to support the mission. Gen. Daniel Hokanson, chief of the National Guard Bureau told the House Defense Appropriations Subcommittee that we’re fairly close on getting a Space Guard and a Space Reserve, as the National Guard already works on space-related missions, with operating satellites. Whether the public is nervous about “unidentified aerial phenomena” i.e., UFOs, it’s clear that everyone’s eyes continue to be in the stars, watching what the Pentagon’s USP Task Force will uncover. Even Congress is waiting for the report, furthering public suspicion of confirmed UFOs.

“You are looking at how is it possible that restricted military airspace is being routinely violated for months and years and nobody is informed in the Defense Department or the Congress and there is a complete system breakdown,” said Christopher Mellon, former deputy assistant secretary of defense for intelligence. “That’s a valid thing for them to investigate.”

Whether the space plot thickens or not, interest in a Space Force and what is happening outside of Earth is on everyone’s minds.
