Florida is a prime vacation destination for much of the United States and even the world. With its sunshine, endless beaches, amusement parks, and warm waters along the Gulf of Mexico, it has plenty to offer visitors. But it’s also a prime market for clearance holders looking for a new job.
Hoping to turn Florida into your permanent residence? Here’s what cleared candidates need to know about living and working in Florida.
Jobs for cleared candidates in Florida
When you think of Florida, you may imagine couples enjoying their retirement lounging on the beach or driving around the state in their RV. But Florida’s endless beaches and sunshine make it a prime location for both Air Force bases and key Coast Guard and Navy bases, too. All the government work done in the area means jobs in aerospace and aviation, IT, and engineering abound.
Employers hiring cleared candidates in Florida
Northrup Grumman, Lockheed Martin, and Raytheon are some of the major employers of cleared candidates in Florida. Smaller companies are hiring too, though, and locations range all over the state of Florida, from West Palm Beach in the south, Cape Canaveral towards the center, and Fort Walton Beach along the panhandle.
Salary for cleared personnel
Florida has one of the highest average salaries for cleared candidates in the southeast, coming in at $95,105. In the region, executive-level candidates experienced a salary boost of 6% between 2020 and 2021, landing at a cool $168,064. And while the cost of living is slightly higher in Florida than in the rest of the U.S., Florida residents also enjoy no state income tax right along with the gorgeous weather.
The average home price in June 2022 was $397,000 for the state, well within reach of the national average of $354,000. But the first rule of real estate (location, location, location!) applies here – homes in in-demand Miami averaged a much higher price of $570,000, while Fort Walton Beach saw prices even lower than the national average, at just $346,000.
Why Florida is perfect for cleared workers
Florida’s booming economy and prime location make it ideal for cleared workers. If you don’t mind the year-round warm weather and being within driving distance of the ocean, Florida could be the perfect spot to land your next cleared job and start calling your vacation destination “home”.
