Senate Security Reform Leader Retires, Heads to ODNI and the Pentagon is Hiring Young Professionals

Last week Jon Rosenwasser, policy director for the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, retired from the role where he spent the last 11 years. First as budget director, then as budget and policy director, Jon spearheaded many of the Senate’s efforts around security clearance reform including key topics like reciprocity and transfer of trust, and efforts to reduce clearance timelines and improve the clearance process. A key aspect of Jon’s role at SSCI was oversight of the National Intelligence Program and development of intelligence community and security clearance reforms within the Intelligence Authorization Act. Jon worked closely with Chairman of the SSCI, Sen. Mark Warner to push forward the government’s Trusted Workforce 2.0 overhaul of the security clearance process. Many in government had the privilege of a congressional inquiry into the security clearance process coming through Jon’s office, and the continued push for security clearance reforms and improvements have much connection to the ideas, collaboration, and efforts that came through Jon’s inbox through the past 10 years.

Prior to working for SSCI, Jon spent 7 years serving in the U.S. intelligence community including as program manager for Director of National Intelligence Jim Clapper’s Intelligence Community Strategic Studies Group. Jon also served as a research fellow at the Brookings Institution, an international affairs fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations, and a Department of Defense consultant.

Jon’s service to the intelligence community is not over. Secret squirrels report he is headed to a new role as Chief Financial Officer at the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.

Layoffs: Stellantis

Hiring: Department of Defense (DoD)

The Department of Defense (DoD) is stepping up its recruitment game with its first-ever social media campaign aimed at attracting younger talent to its civilian workforce. Recognizing a lack of awareness among young job seekers about the myriad of opportunities available within the DoD, the campaign, titled “discover your future at DoD,” seeks to change perceptions and highlight the diverse range of careers aligned with candidates’ goals. Running until April 2024 across platforms like Instagram, LinkedIn, Spotify, Reddit, and more, the initiative aims to break down barriers and showcase the unparalleled opportunities, particularly in areas like AI/Cyber and STEM, that the DoD offers across its 650+ occupations worldwide. Ms. Desiree Seifert, Associate Director of Employment Integration & Strategic Civilian Recruitment, emphasized the need to shift perceptions and attract the next generation of talent to meet the Department’s high-priority recruitment goals.
