In honor of Veterans Day, Akima’s Ginny Glasco and LeRoy Hinton joined the Security Clearance Careers podcast, ClearCast, to discuss career opportunities for veterans within Akima. Ginny, a retired Army veteran with over 20 years with the company, serves as Senior Director of Recruiting Programs and Outreach, while LeRoy, also a veteran, is the Vice President of Operations for Akima’s Facilities Solutions Group.

Both leaders shared insights into their military-to-civilian transitions and highlighted Akima’s veteran-friendly culture. Ginny emphasized her commitment to veteran recruitment, helping those who face the challenges of reintegration, from redefining roles to translating military skills for civilian careers. She shared her passion for providing veterans with opportunities, mentioning tools like the MOS translator and the SkillBridge program that Akima actively supports. LeRoy echoed this commitment, explaining how the company prioritizes hiring veterans and offering mentorship from other veterans within the company. He stressed the importance of veterans establishing a healthy work-life balance and taking time to reassess priorities during the transition.

Both Ginny and LeRoy discussed various resources to support veterans, including the VA’s Vocational Rehabilitation program, local workforce centers, and the Army PaYS program. They believe Akima’s culture fosters growth and values the specialized skills veterans bring to roles supporting Department of Defense programs, among others.

The episode highlights Akima’s dedication to veteran support, not only by hiring veterans but by providing meaningful career pathways and the guidance necessary to thrive. For more on Akima’s veteran initiatives, visit akima.com.
