L3Harris has closed on a major $1 billion investment initiative aimed at strengthening its missile systems portfolio, signaling continued momentum in the defense sector’s focus on advanced weapons capabilities. The investment is expected to accelerate production capacity, modernize manufacturing infrastructure, and support the development of next-generation missile technologies aligned with Department of Defense priorities.
The move reflects a broader push across the defense industrial base to scale up munitions production amid rising global demand and evolving threat environments. For L3Harris, the funding positions the company to play a larger role in supplying critical missile systems while also expanding its workforce and industrial footprint to meet long-term national security needs.

Resonant Sciences is preparing to open its seventh building in the Beavercreek area as the Miami Valley’s aerospace and defense industry continues to grow. The company, which develops warfighter technology with a focus on survivability, has expanded from six employees in 2015 to more than 250 today. CEO Micah North said the company needed more space to support its products and customers.
The new expansion is expected to bring more than 100 jobs to the area in Ohio. North said Resonant Sciences is “always hiring” and plans to keep growing its footprint in the region, with the goal of becoming one of the top aerospace companies in the world.
