Senator Bob Casey has sent a letter to Apple’s CEO asking him to remove an application that allows users to create fake licenses, saying it “poses a threat to public safety and national security.”

The app, called “Driver’s License,” allows users to upload photos of themselves and pairs them with the data found in state-issued driver’s licenses. The app contains driver’s license templates for all fifty states. The idea is that while a regular old driver’s license isn’t anything exciting, a fake one with the photo of your choice is loads of laughs.

The notion of fake driver’s licenses for fun isn’t getting any chuckles from Casey, however. He cites the rampant issue of identity fraud and the challenge created by technology, which makes it easier than ever to falsify information. In Casey’s letter to Apple CEO Tim Cook, he notes that the application could be used to defraud the TSA or even apply for a passport.

"Applications shouldn’t facilitate lawbreaking, which is exactly what this app does,” Casey wrote. “Apple should shut it down immediately.”
