Military programs and veteran hiring aren’t just one-time initiatives in the security-clearance community. Helping veterans and their families is ingrained in the company culture of the customers ClearanceJobs works with each day. Once again in the second quarter of 2013 ClearanceJobs was proud to match the commitment of our customers with an outreach campaign of our own. For every employer subscription to ClearanceJobs.com purchased this year, a $15 donation is made to Operation Gratitude.

We’ve proudly donated more than $7,500 so far this year, including a second quarter donation of $3,855. Enough to send more than 500 care packages to service members, veterans, first responders and family members.

“The number of qualified veterans seeking quality employment continues to grow,” said Evan Lesser, founder and Managing Director of ClearanceJobs.com. “Veteran hiring initiatives are a great way for companies, especially those in the defense industry, to give back.”

Service-specific Cleared Network groups, career advice for transitioning veterans, and outreach at military-sponsored career fairs are just a few of the practical ways ClearanceJobs reaches out to transitioning service members.

More than 250 companies in 28 states made the donation to Operation Gratitude possible. Their strong commitment to warriors and their families is more than just a statement; it’s exemplified in their efforts to hire qualified veterans whenever possible.

CSC is just one company whose commitment to ClearanceJobs in the second quarter of 2013 made our donation to Operation Gratitude possible. They’re also a leader in military programs, with hiring managers dedicated to veteran’s issues and a special landing page with information for transitioning service members, wounded warriors, and military spouses. Earlier this year CSC’s CEO committed to hiring more than 2,000 veterans, wounded warriors and military spouses over the next 12 months. That and many other reasons make CSC a great destination for transitioning vets.

“The thousands of men and women who have joined CSC following their military service are critical to our success,” said Thomas Jones, head of veterans recruiting at CSC. “They provide skills, innovation and leadership necessary to our work. More than 1,800 of CSC’s new hires last year were U.S. military veterans, and more than a third were veterans with disabilities.”

For the large number of veteran-owned small businesses, including MILVETS Systems Technology, hiring veterans is a founding principle.

“Our nation’s best and brightest have given their service to their country, and MILVETS believes these same heroes deserve an employer who will recognize their accomplishments and sacrifices,” said Jason Middleton, human resources director at MILVETS Systems Technology. “MILVETS openly recruits on job boards where we know the outreach extends to our current and past military personnel.  Theirs skillsets and leadership match everything we look for in candidates.”

ClearanceJobs is proud to work each day with companies who have built their workforce with veterans in mind. And we’re proud to recognize those currently serving by working with deserving military charities such as Operation Gratitude.
