The FBI released additional details on an ongoing cyber security breach that resulted in the personal data of more than 100,000 federal employees being exposed. Activist hackers linked to Anonymous are responsible for the attack. The FBI linked the hack with Lauri Love, a British resident indicted for allegedly hacking into computers at federal agencies including the Department of Army, Department of Energy, Health and Human Services, and more.

Investigators believe a security flaw in Adobe’s ColdFusion software allowed government systems to be compromised. Authorities believe the attack is ongoing, and have provided information to systems administrators, notifying them of what to look for.

“The majority of the intrusions have not yet been made publicly known,” the FBI wrote in its memo, as reported by Reuters. “It is unknown exactly how many systems have been compromised, but it is a widespread problem that should be addressed.”
