Technology solutions firm Zantech IT Services, Inc. announced earlier this year that it will create 120 jobs and invest $317,853 to expand its corporate officers in the Tysons area of Fairfax County. This expansion will create 120 new jobs at the company’s headquarters – more than double its employee roster. The 12-year-old firm, which has about 100 employees and provides technology solutions to the federal government and industry clients, chose Virginia over competing bids from D.C., Maryland and West Virginia.

“Virginia’s proximity to the customers we serve makes this the ideal location for our headquarters office,” said Zia Islam, CEO of Zantech, in a press release. “It is also a wonderful place to live, which is why over 80 percent of our employees who work in Virginia also live in Virginia.”

Zantech competes globally but does much of its work from its Tysons headquarters. The minority-owned company has been noted for supporting a culture of education, community support and executives at the company have stated that it is important to support the community. To this end, Zantech has participated in numerous initiatives in support of mentoring and educating disadvantaged youth, wounded warriors, and veterans.

“Fairfax County is the perfect location for our headquarters office to attract and retain a qualified workforce with advanced degrees and security clearances,” added Islam, a former General Motors senior project manager, who founded Zantech in 2007.

The Fairfax County Economic Development Authority (FCEDA) has an established history with Zantech, and it worked with the Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) to secure the project for the Old Dominion State.

“We are so pleased to see Zantech expanding and creating more jobs, and we thank them for deciding to grow here,” said Catherine W. Riley, interim president and CEO of the FCEDA. “Zantech is the perfect company to take advantage of the IT-based workforce in Fairfax County and the region, and Zia Islam is a great example of the rich diversity of our business community leadership that is a hallmark of Fairfax County.”

VEDP will help support Zantech’s job creation through the Virginia Jobs Investment Program, which was created to provide consultative services and funding to companies that are creating new jobs in the region.

Zantech’s services include health information technology, engineering, cyber security and risk management and application development.

In December a joint venture between Zantech and Electrosoft – known as EZTeq, LLC., was awarded a spot on the U.S. Army Information Technology Enterprise Solutions 3 Services contract. The contract, which included five base years and four individual options years, was valued at $12.1 billion. EZteqis an SBA-approved Mentor-Protégé Joint-Venture between protégé Electrosoft and mentor Zantech.
