In this week’s security clearance news video update we’re talking about how possible Top Secret telework is becoming thanks to the coronavirus. Last week the Air Force provided an update on its deviceONE initiative, which is allowing a limited number of Air Force professionals to access classified information via secure laptop and VDI interface. The technology is something cleared professionals have been advocating for. The platform doesn’t come without risks. But like all elements of the personnel security program, it’s all about risk mitigation. Yes, information can be compromised by letting a secure laptop go home with a classified employee. But information can also be compromised when an employee decides to stuff it down her pantyhose.

Other top headlines include recent remarks by Director of the National Counterintelligence and Security Center, Bill Evanina about how counterintelligence threats are ramping up in response to the coronavirus, and how the national security community is making sure it’s able to respond, and why the coronavirus may usher in the next wave of security clearance reform.

We’re also talking about beer – beer apps, that is, and why it may not be a great idea to check in and add notes about every craft beer you drink at your local officer’s club.
