The military community is facing immense challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic. To help alleviate pain points that military families and veterans feel, Booz Allen is committed to being part of the solution.

That’s why, as part of our overall COVID-19 community response, we’ve donated $1 million and committed subject matter expertise and technical know-how to the COVID-19 Military Support Initiative. It’s a national coalition we’re helping lead that’s rapidly responding to the military community’s challenges and concerns during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Addressing Pain Points in Military Support Survey

How is the coalition helping military families during the pandemic? For starters, it launched a survey, giving military families and veterans the opportunity to share their top pain points and changing needs in this time of crisis. The coalition then collaborates with government policymakers, legislators, and thought leaders to inform families about policy changes and resources through digital outreach and events, and in some circumstances, working directly with government leaders to tailor solutions.

For example, the initiative recently worked with the Department of Defense to preserve child care options for military families during the crisis. They also worked with Congress to make G.I. Bill benefits continue automatically if a student’s program has switched from resident to online training due to coronavirus.

Looking Ahead – Supporting the Military Community

After 6 months of real-time research, the COVID-19 Military Support Initiative looked back to analyze and share their findings in aggregate, in hopes of further influencing positive change within the military community. The initiative’s capstone report, “6 Months in Review: COVID-19 Lessons for Military Families and Defense Communities” shares insights on military child education, the financial impacts on military families, installation management and partnerships, and defense community economic recovery.

Through innovative partnerships—like our sponsorship of this initiative—we’re making a positive and long-lasting impact. Our support of the military community runs deep.
