At QinetiQ US, trust and innovation go hand in hand. The defense and security focused company plays a critical role in delivering mission-led, customer focused engineering and technologically advanced solutions to the US Department of Defense and national security agencies, enabling them with capabilities to protect lives and the nation’s vital interests.
Andrés Meneses and Rob Abbott with QinetiQ US’ National and Global Security Solutions (NGSS) and Intelligence and Cyber Information Advantage (ICIA) Divisions shared how the company’s commitment to their employees helps enable them to be an industry leader.
fresh perspectives with the end user in mind
Andrés Meneses’ initial role in the NGSS involved the development of an application for a government client. He brought fresh eyes to a project already in development and aided in its successful deployment.
“I’m very focused on user experience, user interaction. What I always keep in mind is that you have to build something that will be used because I have worked on prior projects at other companies where the teams don’t build with the end user in mind. You end up building a great product, but no one uses it,” Meneses explained, underscoring QinetiQ US’ commitment to creating solutions that work.
harnessing data to solve government solutions
Rob Abbott brought his background in systems integration, IT strategy and management consulting to QinetiQ US’ ICIA division. His team’s focus is finding the best ways to make data accessible to their clients. “We’re in a really great position. Our business unit’s sweet spot is data engineering and application development, which directly intersects with some of the biggest challenges our clients face,” he explained.
“Finding a way to harness all this great data is really, really difficult. And that’s what our team does. So we go to work every day knowing we can make data accessible and building applications that help provide greater insight and enable better decision-making.”
A culture built on growth and support
Both Meneses and Abbott highlighted QinetiQ US’ distinctive and refreshing work culture. Employee resource groups play a pivotal role in fostering a sense of community and support, enabling employees to collaborate across divisions and grow both professionally and personally.
As Meneses stated, QinetiQ US puts a focus on connection. “Whether you just want to come and focus on your actual job, or you want to branch out and explore different leadership opportunities in different employee resource groups, or just want to attend a fun trivia game at one of the employee resource groups is offering, we have that too,” he explained.
“And it’s a great thing to be involved with because you do get to meet a lot more people than if you just stay within your division and your contract.”
