Seventeen lawmakers are urging Secretary Defense Lloyd Austin to offer more drone-support to Ukraine.
“Ukraine could better confront Russian threats with advanced [unmanned aerial systems] like the MQ-1C Gray Eagle or the MQ-9A Reaper,” the lawmakers wrote in the Wednesday letter reviewed by WSJ.
General Atomics, the maker of the Gray Eagle, said that they’re ready and able to deploy them and train Ukrainian soldiers to use them. The bipartisan group of lawmakers are calling for the Pentagon to do an assessment.

As the company continues to report a slowdown in hiring, online chatter has pointed out that many employees are being asked to find new positions within the company. Many are commenting on how this feeling similar to Google making research and development reductions earlier this month. Both companies have provided employees a window of time to find new work within the organization. With less external hiring and internal trimming, it can be a strategy to move employees around without sending out layoff notices.

Booz Allen acquired Liberty IT Solutions LLC last summer. Since then, Booz Allen has expanded its presence in the Space Coast’s technology sector. The 200-employee operation has since grown to 300, and plans are in the works to hire another 100-150 more people.

Opportunity to Watch
At the Air & Space Forces Association’s Air Space Cyber Conference, Eddy Mentzer, the Defense Department’s associate director of Military Community Support Programs, said that the military is launching a program in 2023 to connect hiring companies and military spouses with paid fellowship positions. The key is keeping military spouses employed throughout PCS moves. No word on the funding stream for this or the specific companies signing up to collaborate. But the program could provide a steady pipeline for contractors of career-ready military spouses.
