The defense tech landscape is evolving, and startups like Pryzm are leading the charge, according to TechCrunch. Founded in 2022, Pryzm aims to streamline the often convoluted government contracting process for other tech companies, helping them land contracts and navigate the complexities of working with the DoD. Recently, Pryzm announced a $2 million pre-seed funding round led by XYZ Venture Capital and Amplify.LA. Pryzm offers a personalized dashboard that consolidates data from contracts, congressional hearings, and more to give companies an edge in securing government deals. Co-founder Nick LaRovere, a Palantir alum, hopes Pryzm will help startups break into the defense tech world by identifying key opportunities and decision-makers early on. With plans to expand beyond defense, Pryzm is poised to transform the way companies approach government contracts.

Contract Opportunities to Watch: Lockheed martin

NASA has selected Lockheed Martin to develop a cutting-edge lightning mapping instrument for NOAA’s Geostationary Extended Observations (GeoXO) satellite program. The $297.1 million contract includes the development of two flight instruments, with options for two more, and will span 15 years. The GeoXO Lightning Mapper will play a crucial role in detecting, tracking, and analyzing lightning activity, filling gaps where radar coverage is limited, particularly over oceans and remote areas. This advanced instrument is expected to improve storm analysis, hurricane intensity prediction, wildfire detection, and aviation safety, ensuring critical weather data is available when most needed. The new system will replace the aging Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellites-R (GOES-R) Series, with the GeoXO satellite system set to launch in the early 2030s.
