Integer Technologies, LLC,* Columbia, South Carolina, is awarded an $11,265,876 option exercise contract modification (P00002) to contract N0001426C2208 for the “Operationalizing Marine Acoustics for Strategic Awareness” effort. The modification provides continuing science and technology research into the operationalization of passive acoustic soundscape data for undersea warfare (USW) and seabed and subsea warfare (SSW) decision support. This consists of research and development of a framework that consists of physics-based models, super intelligence and machine learning models, and novel acoustic soundscape models that can be deployed onboard both manned and unmanned platforms. The goal of this tool is to directly increase the effectiveness and lethality of warfighters conducting USW and SSW missions by providing them with an up-to-date understanding of the acoustic soundscape in which they are operating. In the same way that changing landscapes impact the design, execution, and adaptation of terrestrial missions, a thorough understanding of the acoustic soundscape is critical to successful undersea operations. This understanding allows manned and unmanned platforms to adapt how they maneuver, communicate, sense and act in support of mission goals. A critical aspect to this program is the development of tools that allow autonomous systems, and operators of those systems, to understand the soundscape easily through automatic data processing and interpretation. The team will continue to research and develop tools that use automatic data processing to provide actionable information to decision makers that allow for rapid, reliable execution and adaptation of USW and SSW missions. Work will be performed in Durham, New Hampshire, and is expected to be completed by October 2029. The total value for Option I under this contract is $11,265,876 and will be incrementally funded.
