Behavioral Screening in the Hiring Process – Recruiting Round-Up

Cleared Recruiting interview

Interview by Bigstock

Apparently, it’s okay to try to identify the next Edward Snowden as long as you don’t provide a clinical diagnosis. So, instead of just calling references and verifying resume information, you might need to have the employee complete a behavioral survey.

It just keeps getting easier to recruit federal employees. Monthly transit benefits are set to decrease by almost 50% on Jan 1.

Ere.net identifies some key reasons a prospect might surprise you with a rejection. You might want to be sure you’re not talking too much and that you’re actually listening…otherwise you may find the candidate just isn’t in to you.

According to a recent Staffing Industry survey, IT workers are feeling pretty confident right now (we’re not surprised). IT employee confidence hasn’t been this high since 2005. Employees were not only confident in their ability to obtain a new job, but they were also confident in the future of their employers.

ISome candidates just try to ask a question that makes them look smart; however, great candidates ask questions that show that they are interested and actually care about the answers more than the question. Veterans are also likely to have their own specific questions. It just goes to show, during an interview, every element is an opportunity for candidates to impress.

Who’s Hiring

Raytheon and Lockheed’s Javelin Joint Venture has received a $176 million contract. The contractors will be producing missile rounds and command launch units on the contract. Delivery date is October 2014.

Who’s Growing

It’s not all doom and gloom news for defense contractors working the sequestration budget. One contractor has found a way to rake in $38.6 million in new contracts since the beginning of October 2013. Kratos Defense & Security Solutions is slated to grow revenue 266% in the coming year.

ViaSat Inc is also growing despite sequestration. ViaSat reported an 11% increase or $129 million in revenue from July to October. Despite shrinking defense budgets, providing government command and control networks and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance hardware continues to be a growing business. ViaSat continues to grow with a strong partnership with Boeing on one venture and with a portfolio that lines up well with the defense department’s current budget.

Who’s Acquiring

A-T Solutions has acquired Green-Line Systems. Green-line will add big data capabilities to A-T Solutions counterterrorism work. Once Green-Line’s Arlington lease ends, they will move to A-T Solution’s Tyson Corner office.
