“The great thing about applying for a position through a staffing company, is you get an opportunity to get exposure to multiple organizations,” said LaTonya Walker, director of recruiting at TAD PGS.

Staffing companies can be a great first step for entry-level professionals, who are wondering how to ‘break-in’ to a defense industry or government career.

“I started with an internship, and through that I was able to become a web developer for them at our client site, and through that I was able to establish myself as a manager,” said William Purner, client project manager, TAD PGS. At every step in the hiring process, Purner stated the company was looking both to make his career progression happen, as well as give the best results to the customer.

“They kept me in mind for positions; they kept nurturing me for positions,” said Purner.

That opportunity to move, grow and pursue new opportunities in something Walker sees as a key advantage in working with a staffing company. She noted that even for candidates just applying on line, when they work with a staffing company, they may be considered for positions they weren’t even aware of.
