Live streaming is a powerful tool that recruiters can use to connect with potential candidates, promote their company culture, and attract top talent. Recruitment marketing and employer branding are the key words when interacting with a shrinking, passive talent tool. Live streaming is a resource recruiters can use to engage with these passive candidates.

Today, 80% of people would rather watch a live video than read blog content, and 53% of companies broadcast live stream videos at least once a week.

REASONS RECRUITERS SHOULD BE USING LIVE STREAMING TO REACH CANDIDATES

  1. Live streaming is not limited by geography, so you can reach potential candidates from all over the country. This is especially beneficial for companies that are looking to hire for remote positions or that have a national workforce. When streaming live on a social platform, engagement from your following also helps to build your network through second- and third-party connections.
  2. It helps to build relationships and trust with potential candidates. Live streaming allows you to connect with potential candidates in a more casual way and establishes your brand on a more personal level. Making the first connection with your company is the first “touch” in the recruitment process.
  3. Whether it is a personal coffee chat with your CEO, an office tour at your HQ, or offering transitioning tips to military as your try to reach veteran talent, when you live stream through video on social, you can showcase your office culture and values in a more personal way. This can help you increase brand awareness among potential candidates and make them more likely to want to work for your company.

Changing YOUR RECRUITING TACTICS

  1. Decide on a topic or content for the live stream event, and what people within your company will be featured. Some ideas: bring in outside, expert speakers, an ‘Ask Me Anything’ (AMA) with recruiters, HR, Executives, or hiring managers, a meet the team video, general branding, or highlighting specific jobs, contracts, etc. that your company is recruiting for.
  2. Choose your streaming venue – you can do live events natively through Facebook or Instagram or choose a third-party service like Restream that allows you to stream to multiple platforms (Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, Twitch) at the same time.
  3. You can meet beforehand with folks involved in the live stream to discuss the flow of the conversation or wing it by answering questions from candidates that comment / engage on the live stream event.
  4. Your team can also do a practice run of the live event by creating video content similar to a webinar to post on YouTube or other social media platforms. This will help you to build the confidence in doing a live streaming event!
