Amazon continues to dedicate resources to the Northern Virginia area. While their new headquarters are still being built, they’re also adding an Amazon Web Services Skills Center, opening later this month. The tech company will offer free training at this new facility, getting people ready for the AWS Cloud Practitioner Essentials Certification. Trainings will be offered free of charge, and anyone can enroll in their in-person classroom instruction – or virtual trainings. So, if you can’t make your way to the D.C. metro region, you can check them out online.

From DevOps to machine learning to cloud architecting, IT candidates can grow their skills with the help of Amazon. Candidates can also look for career networking events and job fairs. The skills center opens to the public on October 18.

Empower AI has won a new contract to support the U.S. Army Information Systems Engineering Command. The task order, awarded under ISEC’s Total Engineering and Integration Services IV contract, has total contract value of up to $14 million if all options are exercised.

Under the contract, Empower AI will support ISEC’s efforts to modernize the National Defense University’s systems infrastructure, including audiovisual capabilities at Fort McNair in Washington, D.C., and at Naval Support Activity Hampton Roads, in Norfolk, VA. The initiative will include upgrades at several auditoriums at the two bases, providing services such as engineering, furnishing, installation, securing, and testing (EFIS&T) of the C4I/IT systems, integration of systems, project management support data and on-site training.

“Supporting ISEC and its cyber-defense mission is an honor for Empower AI,” said Paul Dillahay, president and CEO of Empower AI. “We look forward to providing the Joint Staff and NDU with the technology and services they need to educate and inform our warfighters of national military strategy in a secure, integrated manner.”
